Many industrial companies require 3D laser scanning measurements to compare the deformation of a component or mold against the CAD model. This allows to check also tolerances or profiles present in the drawing through the analysis of deviations in the form of a chromatic map.
The 7-axis Hexagon Absolute Arm is a very versatile portable anthropomorphic arm, as it can be used in companies even in unfavorable environments such as production.
The functions it performs are contact and non-contact laser measurement.
After scanning, the instrument detects points to be superimposed on the reference CAD model. By choosing the appropriate alignment mode (Best-Fit, RPS, Geometric) deviations (distances) between what is detected and what is expected at the design level are evaluated.
The deformations are analyzed by a chromatic map of the deviations detected between the 3D STL file (acquired by the scanner) and the reference CAD model.
The STL file of the scan can be provided to the customer on request for a precise analysis of the deformations aimed at compensating on the mold the deformations detected on the piece.
This type of analysis is suitable for various types of automotive, home appliance, industrial design and many others.
