CALIBRATION Temperature calibration of instruments

The calibration laboratory has the task of ensuring the metrological comparability of a measuring instrument or sensor to a national primary sample, by means of a chain of comparisons all with declared uncertainty.

The calibration is carried out in most cases by comparison method: a sample, with known and certified performance, is compared with the instrument to be calibrated; operating at different points of the measuring range, the two measurements returned by both instruments – the sample and the meter – are then analysed simultaneously in order to record the difference between the values. The calibration ratio expresses, by different criteria, the value of this deviation for each measured point. Each measurement carried out shall be accompanied by an estimation of uncertainty.

Unilab among the different types of instruments that it can calibrate performs the calibration service of temperature probes, thermometric chains and thermometers.

The laboratory is equipped with a portable bench, equipped with a PT 100 probe as primary sample, with which calibration operations can be carried out – even at the customer’s premises – in the temperature range between ambient T and 550 °C.

In case of customer service, the certificate is issued at the same time as the calibration and is available on the Unilab online portal.
